To Our Community,
SheWrites.com was founded on the principle that women writers should support and champion one another. She Writes Press grew out of this commitment, building a unique a platform for women’s voices so that we may be seen and heard in all our brilliance and honored for our myriad experiences in every nuanced form they may take.
Now more than ever, woman-focused, women-driven communities like ours need to be both vigilant and bold. We want you to publish your stories, express your truths, stand up for what you believe in, and form new communities here on SheWrites.com that will serve and support you.
We are a community that prides itself on inclusivity, whose eyes are wide open to the barriers all women writers face, but particularly to the unique barriers faced by women of color. Given our strong desire to walk our talk, we are initiating a scholarship program, effective immediately, to publish a woman of color every season through She Writes Press. Our first writer will be published on the fall 2017 list. (We will be announcing more details in the weeks to come.) We also intend to host various contests to bring new writers into our fold. We have always had a strong and robust community of writers here, committed to their principles while remaining open-minded, fair, and kind to one another. Thank you for that. We will continue to foster a space for all of you, a place to convene, write, build your platform, speak your truths, and publish.
This is an online home for many of you. We welcome your feedback and want to remind you how much we want and need your voices. Please post, engage in conversations, and spread the word about our initiatives to friends and colleagues as we move forward during this uncertain time. Our commitment to championing women’s voices has never wavered; today, it is stronger than ever, and its strength derives from each and every one of you.
Thank you for being the voices of our community.
Sincerely,
Kamy Wicoff, founder of SheWrites.com
Brooke Warner, Publisher of She Writes Press
Crystal Patriarche, CEO of SheWrites.com and She Writes Press
