We encourage you to start early. As soon as you secure your publishing deal, you can start to put out feelers, asking people if they’d be open to endorsing your book. For busy authors, giving them six months or more is reasonable, and then your job is to follow up around one month prior to the deadline you’ve given them. You may need to follow up more than once. Create a spreadsheet tracking who you’ve reached out to, on date, and what their response has been. It’s okay to follow up with each contact a couple times.
