Statement from the publisher about its intentions for filing claims in the Anthropic settlement

She Writes Press and SparkPress collectively have 222 books whose authors qualify for the Anthropic settlement payout of $3000 per title.

She Writes Press and SparkPress will not file claims on the books that have been deemed eligible to receive this payout. Our desire and directive is for authors to file a claim on their own behalf so that that authors receive the full payout of $3000 per title.

She Writes Press and SparkPress have encouraged its 217 eligible authors (a few of whom have multiple titles on the list) to submit paperwork to the handlers of the Anthropic Settlement with the following language:

To Whom It May Concern:

For all She Writes Press and SparkPress authors eligible to receive settlement monies in the Anthropic case, She Writes Press and SparkPress releases any rights to any monies. As a hybrid publisher, our interest is that the authors recoup the full amount due to them in this settlement. She Writes Press and SparkPress authors retain full ownership of their book projects. She Writes Press and SparkPress will not be filing claims on behalf of its authors, so the author filings represent our wishes for authors to recoup and retain 100% of the payout.

This letter releases any rights we have as the publisher to the settlement monies in this case and settlement.
